DLC - October 23rd

Well I'm not playing LittleBigPlanet like I was hoping to at this point this week but I am playing Bioshock. Since LBP didn't drop I had "time" for another game. Nevermind it would make more sense to play other games I've neglected like... I dunno. STAR WARS The Force Unleashed. My still unopened copy of GTA IV. My recently purchased SOCOM Confrontation - which I'm actually putting on hold until Trophies are release and the patch for "the rest of the game" is finally released. But never mind all of that, I've been playing Bioshock as it creeps me out, scares the crap out of me, and is completely awesome in just about every way. I also received Incredible Hulk in the mail today, so I'm going to watch that while everything is downloading. I'm going to go start my movie while you check out the links.

Add-on
If I ever get Game Night reinstated I'm going to have to get BUZZ!, as it's a great chance to see drinking friends really get silly. And when I do there will be tons of additional content that's been released I can pick up. This week to coincide with All Hallow's Eve being just around the corner and all other horror type games releasing, BUZZ! gives us the Horror Pack for a nice little $5.99.

High Velocity Bowling is supposed to be a lot of fun, but I'll have to admit it doesn't really interest me. Either way, it seems to have quite a nice following and now comes with fresh new toys to light up the lanes this week.

  • All Hallow’s Eve Ball Pack - $0.99
  • Foxy - $0.99
  • Chastity - $0.99

Just as we all expected DLC for SOULCALIBUR IV would become available to introduce the exclusive characters into the game for owners of the rival consoles. So Darth Vader would become available to the Xbox 360 and Yoda would become available for the PS3. Despite the fact that the Yoda character has been considered broken since the Jedi Master is simply too short to be hit in most attacks and cannot be grabbed. Perhaps this could be a perk to being the most powerful Jedi most anybody has ever known of, but for some it's busted game play. Either way, for an extra $4.99 Yoda can be yours! May the Force be with you!

To quote a friend of mine, "Capcom and Mega Man can rot in hell!" This game's hard, but it takes you back to a time when the 2D platformer ruled all with an awesome range of games. Fortunately developers are recognizing that us old skool gamers want to play those games again and give the new kids a chance to truly enjoy them. Either way, if Mega Man 9 wasn't hard enough, here's more stuff to make it even more.... "enjoyable." Go spend another $2.97 and continue to fight the urge to throw your DUALSHOCK 3 or SIXAXIS controller into the next country, or state, or country.

  • Mega Man 9 Superhero Mode - $0.99
  • Mega Man 9 Special Stage - $0.99
  • Mega Man 9 Hero Mode - $0.99

Sid Meier's has done a great job about releasing new content for his latest slice of awesome. One piece of pie for $1.25 and a piece of pie for free! So no matter where you are in your budge you get a piece of pie. Who doesn't like pie?!

  • Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution Scenario Pack: Survival - $1.25
  • Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution Single Player Map Pack 2: Surreal - free

Guitar Hero World Tour starts out early with new songs so not to be completely eclipsed by how much awesome Rock Band sells each Thursday. 3 new pay songs and then what appears to be 3 free songs as well. No sense in arguing with free!

Rock Band Thursday jams out with the Crüe (Again!) and Nirvana. Separate songs will run you $1.99 each, but there's an all inclusive Nirvana pack including 7 songs for $10.99. Won't you bring a little music to your Thursday? And most likely to your neighbors as well if you're a Rock Band drummer. I'll pray for your neighbors!

Demos
Valkyria Chronicles Demo

LEGO Batman: The Videogame Demo follows the steps of the extremely popular LEGO STAR WARS The Complete Saga and the almost as popular LEGO Indiana Jones the Videogame. I've heard mix reactions to this game saying that with out LucasArts being involved the game suffers but I've also heard this game is tons of fun and just about as much replay value. My sister and I are big fans of the STAR WARS game and played the hell out of that for quite a while and was excited about hearing about the Indy and Batman scheduled releases. I've yet to pick up the later of the 3 releases but now this demo helps me make my decision. The demo itself allows you to play as Batman and Robin or the Joker and Harley. I played through the entire Hero part of the story and kicked some LEGO butt with Batman finally seeing that the game can rock with out Light Sabers. The Indy demo wasn't nearly as good as the STAR WARS game so I didn't even consider that game. This demo however seems to have piqued my interests and I'm thinking I will pick this up once this holiday season's barrage of games calms down. Try the demo, it's fun for all ages.

Games
Lots of gamers follow Penny Arcade religiously, and many a PS3 owner was bummed that the game baring their name wasn't released on PSN. Well, a week before Episode Two is released for PC and XBL, PS3 owners will pick up the first game. Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode One for a slightly discounted price of $14.99. I haven't decided if I will check it out yet, but I am interested. Great mix of humor and game play, and episodic games like this could really bring the "bang for your buck." I have no clue when the second episode will become available to the PSN, but that's partly due to lack of looking. I'm sure a quick search would tell me but I'm lazy and want to go play Bioshock some more and watch Hulk!

As soon as I saw the news that the original Prince of Persia game, circa 1989, was going to get slapped around with a graphical update and released I got extremely excited. I think I was maybe 13 or 14 when I bought an old DOS4 computer from one of my Mom's co-workers for $20. The machine had over 200 old DOS games like Tetris, Prince of Persia, Jordan Vs. Bird, a few MUDs, and I believe the very first Microsoft Flight Simulation game. I used to play that thing for hours on end, and the games I played the most were Tetris and Prince of Persia. I played the game so much at least 15 years since the last time I played it and I still remembered where to go in the first 3 stages, even with out the added butterfly that tells you where to go. Remembered where the floor would give out, or where another guard would be. After playing for 30 minutes, anybody who ever loved the original Prince of Persia must go put $10 on their Wallet and buy this game! Prince of Persia Classic nostalgic gold!

Themes
WipEout HD All Teams #3 Theme is absolutely free and is pretty slick. It appears to have a range of vehicles taken from the teams in the game in their multi-color glory. The background itself seems a little odd but still looks pretty sweet. Again nothing in the way of sounds which I wish there was, but what can ya do these days. Perhaps they're going to be pushing the sound enabled themes under the Premium Themes section.

Lots of Mega Man 9 content this week and we also pick up 5 different Premium Themes for $1.99 each. Not something I'm going to drop money on, but perhaps this will be worth it for those who haven't thrown a controller through their TV because of Mega Man 9.

Well I watched "HULK SMASH" played some LEGO Batman The Videogame, had the crap scared out of me in Bioshock, and loved Prince of Persia Classic and now I'm beat. Heading to bed, hoping none of the random bangs and clangs that scared the hell out of me while I was playing Bioshock don't wake me up in the middle of the night!
